William J. Root, Paranormal Experiencer Interview.

HPI Entity Disruption Patrol: Interviewers: Paul Dale Roberts, Timothy Dennehy, Rita Reyes. Interviewee: William J. Root.
Date: February 19, 2010
Time: 1000 Hours
Location: Starbucks, 1440 East Hammer Lane, Stockton, CA

Paul: William J. Root is a peace officer in California. He has a very compelling story. This is about a haunting at: 1135 North Center Street, Stockton, CA

Question: What year did you move into this house in Stockton?

Answer: 1982 and we moved out in 1983.

Rita asks: Did your family move out because of the activity?

Answer: Yes.

Question: How old were you at the time when you lived in this house?

Answer: 6 years old.

Question: Do you know about any history of this home?

Answer: My mother found a death certificate for a guy named Walter. It showed on the death certificate that he died of a suicide. My mother later found many other death certificates and possibly one of the owners worked as a mortician and kept records at this home.

Timothy asks: When did the activity start?

Answer: One week after moving into the home. The activity would happen on a daily basis.

Question: HPI Researcher Laurie Rutledge found some information about this home and you can find it here:

http://forums.jazmaonline.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1571

Question: What family members lived with you at this home?

Answer: My mother, father and sister. My older stepbrother would live with us off and on. My sister was 4 at the time we lived in the home.

Question: Did all of your family members experience the paranormal in this home?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Do you feel that perhaps there is a logical explanation for these experiences?

Answer: No.

Question: Why would you think the experiences are paranormal?

Answer: Being 6 years old, people would think maybe I was imagining stuff. My mother knew something was wrong with the house and she was trying to protect the family. My mother had violent experiences with the entity or entities. The activity focused around her.

Rita asks: Was your mother in the house most of the time and that is why the activity was centered on her?

Answer: Yes.

Timothy asks: Did the paranormal activity follow you?

Answer: No.

In William’s own words, I will let him now explain some of the experiences at this home:

“When I was young, my parents moved our family into a home in the Stockton area. After about a week of living in the house strange and unexplained activity started happening in the house. My mom was having a yard sale to sell some of our old family items and my uncle was at the house helping out. He had been drinking and went in the house to use the bathroom. When he came out of the house he started yelling at my mom and wanted to know who was in the house holding the door shut to the bathroom. My mom had told him that he was 'drunk' and there wasn’t anyone in the house. My uncle later told my mom that when he tried to come out of the bathroom the door would pull back closed when he would try to open it. He said after several times of pulling on the door it finally opened and he saw a figure running from the hallway into the kitchen. Thinking it was one of us, he came outside and yelled at my mom thinking we were responsible for holding the door shut.

At that time, we had not experienced the activity. Shortly after that my mom was unpacking boxes in the hallway in the same bathroom. As she was bent over unpacking a box, she said she felt someone 'pat' her on her butt. She said at first she thought it was her clothing moving across her skin because it was a hot night. However when she bent back over she said she felt a hand grab her butt. She said she stood up and looked back and there was nothing there.

For several months, we would see doors open by themselves, lights turn off and on, hear foot steps where there wasn’t anyone in the house, and water would turn off and on.

One night while my parents were in bed, they heard what they thought was my brother and me playing on the stairs outside their bedroom door. My mom kept yelling for us to go back to bed, but the laughing and footsteps continued. When she got out of bed to yell at us there wasn’t anyone on the stairs. She went upstairs to tell us to stay in bed and noticed that both of us were asleep.

For months these types of activities continued and happening to all of us in the house. My parents had told my grandparents and other family members about what was happening in the house and no one believed them. One day while my grandmother was at the house my mom was telling her about some of the recent things that had been happening. Being skeptic about the whole thing she still insisted that there was nothing going on the house. My mom had told her that she had found a file in the basement that showed a man by the name of 'Walter' had killed himself in the house. As she was talking to my grandmother, my sister told her that 'Walter' was not a ghost, he was a spirit. My mom asked her why she thought that and my sister told her that 'Walter' had told her that.

The activity continued while other relatives where visiting. Several of my family members had seen doors open while they were there and actually heard footsteps walk past them in the kitchen and hallways. All of them refused to come back to the house after things would happen around them. We had an old antique china case in the house that my mom had collectible china in. To open the case was to turn a knob and the door would open. One day while my grandmother was visiting, we all heard the knob “click” and watched it turn and the door open. From that day forward, she believed the house was haunted.

During the day, I would be at school and my father would be at work leaving my mother at home with my sister. I would hear her tell my dad all the time the different things that had happened to her during the day. On one occasion, she told him she was in the kitchen doing dishes and she heard footsteps walk past her to the back door. She said she heard the door open and then heard the foot steps walk down the back steps. As she stood there, she heard the basement door open and then close. She said she was watching as the she heard the door open however it never did. She walked outside and checked the basement door and it was locked and closed. She told him that she was sure she heard both of those doors open and close.

These things continued and all of us in the family knew there was something going on in the house. My brother had woke up one night to go to the bathroom and had an apparition appear in front of him. It scared him so bad that he fainted after waking my parents. He told them that he had seen the figure of an old man appear in front of him when he went to turn on the light to go down stairs. At night while we would sleep, we would hear the furniture in the bedroom being pushed across the floor into the center of the room. We would just lay there and after a while you would see it moving back to where it was or being moved to other places in the room.

Finally the activities started getting more violent towards us. My brother was in the bathtub one night and had reached out to move a heater closer to him. He said the heater actually came off the floor and ended up in the bathtub with him almost electrocuting him to death.

One night while my father was out working my mom was getting my sister and I, ready for bed. We were up stairs getting our clothes for bed and my mom left the room to go down stairs. As she started down the stairs, we heard her fall down the stairs. She was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken tail bone. She later told my dad that when she started down the stairs, she felt two hands hit her in her back knocking her down the stairs. This was the final incident that caused us to move out of the house. My dad went to our land lord telling him we were moving out due to the incidents that where going on in the house. The landlord was mad because we were moving out in violation of our lease. The landlord had made the statement to my dad that ‘we were all weird' and nothing was going on in the house. This made us think that there were others that lived in the house that had experienced the same sorts of activities and moved out.

Special Note: William, Rita, Timothy and I conducted a preliminary investigation of this home. After I left, the new owners showed up and let William, Rita and Timothy go into the home. I found no anomalies in my photographs and I did not obtain any EVPs. Even though we found no paranormal evidence during this preliminary, does not mean that the house is not haunted. William was very consistent with his story and he is a credible witness.

End of Interview. Now to other HPI News! See below!

LIVING GHOSTS!
True Story: Burnside Community - Chicago. Year: 1974. A couple (the Darwins) move into an apartment. In the 3rd week, they witness an apparition of a man walking over to a phantom couch and on that phantom couch is a woman. The male ghostly phantom is unaware of the new tenants as he approaches the woman phantom on the couch. He then starts hitting her, the woman looks like she is terrified and is screaming at the top of her lungs, but yet there is no sounds coming from her lips. The Darwins witness the same scenario 3 more times. One day, they are invited to a block party barbeque. The neighbor in charge of the barbeque tells them that this is a neighborhood tradition and that they can flip through the photo album at past block party bbqs. As the young couple is flipping through the photo album, they are stunned. The young woman yells..."these two people are the ghosts in our apartment!" The man in charge of the block party looks at the couple with a quizzical look upon his face and says.."what are you talking about? The two people you are pointing to in that picture used to live in your apartment, they used to have domestic disputes. The police were always at their apartment, they finally got divorced and the man moved out-of-state and the woman in the picture lives 5 blocks down from here. They are pretty much alive, they are hardly ghosts." What the couple witnessed is a residual haunting. Residual haunting is not intelligent. The couple that were seen as apparitions produced so much negative energy into the surrounding atmosphere, that this violent incident like a recording plays over and over again.

BLUE ICE AND THE TOYOTA RECALL.
The other day, I got a call, the caller wanted to remain anonymous, he calls himself Blue Ice. He makes claim that his uncle works for the US government, but also works at a Toyota assembly plant in Japan. He makes claim that his uncle is a saboteur. The reason for the sabotage on Toyota vehicles is because of the massive recall that will generate negative publicity, causing the consumer to switch his or her buying habits from foreign made vehicles to American made vehicles, which in turn will help in boosting our economy. Since Blue Ice does not want to reveal his true identity, I will keep this tidbit of information as a blurb.

Great Movies!
2/18/2010. HPI Paranormal Investigator Chantal Apodaca and I were asked to review a few movies. We went to Century Laguna to watch Avatar, The Wolfman and The Book of Eli. Chantal and I, were in awe with all three movies. The special effects in Avatar left us breathless. Since this movie was in 3-D, we felt like we were on another planet. James Cameron gets a standing ovation from both of us! The Book of Eli was an incredibly told story and Denzel Washington once again proves he is a great actor! The Wolfman is a compliment to all of the Wolfman/Lon Chaney movies of the past! Bravo!
