At the party, everyone dressed up as their favorite rock star, except for the minions of HPI (Haunted and Paranormal Investigations International). We dressed all in black and came as vampires to promote the upcoming HPI Vampire Ball. I was the oddball out, as I came as the Demon Warrior, my other persona. The Demon Warrior does not condone the practices of vampirism or demons and fortunately on this night, I found no real vampires in the midst.

HPI members met up first at the Coffee Garden on Franklin Blvd and people stared at this group dressed all in black. Members present: Shannon ‘Ms. Macabre’ McCabe – HPI Owner, Paul Dale Roberts – HPI General Manager aka the Demon Warrior; Yolanda Fowler, Tim H., Merilee, Chantal Apodaca – Personal Assistant to Shannon & Paul and others, too many to mention. We caravanned to the location in Fairoaks.

Let me describe things as you walk in. There are a multitude of people dressed as rock stars. There is a ‘Creature of the Black Lagoon’ that walks around greeting everyone. There is a potluck and a variety of food and drinks on the main kitchen table. Out in the patio you have the option of taking a ride in a box car and seeing strange creatures come to life or simply sit on a chair and watch old films being played over and over again in the backyard. Near the swimming pool is the Tiki Room and for a moment you feel like you teleported to Tahiti as a talking parrot walks you through the experience.

Upstairs you have the disco ball room, where music from the 80s, alternative, techno, R&B is played. Yep! We got on dancing on in this room. Then in another room was a theater playing the Fritz the Cat cartoon. We partied into the wee hours of the morning.

It was a memorable night and Larry threw another great party!
