FAT BOB'S KIRKLAND TAP
(first team session)
Written by Teresa Williams - HPI Senior Lead Investigator, NIPRT Paranormmal Investigator and HPI Editor

December 16, 2010 we were called to an investigation of a local bar. Located at 500 W. Main Street in Kirkland, Illinois, the teams to conduct this investigation were:

Dave Norvell, and Dan Norvell, and Rob Roquet of Small Town Paranormal (STP), and myself, Teresa Williams from Northern Illinois Paranormal Research Team (NIPRT), and Senior Lead Investigator for Haunted Paranormal Investigations International (HPI).

The owner of the bar, Robert Arwood gave me a brief history of the place. The upstairs was once a opera house, a movie theatre, and a gun shop called D&J's. The downstairs where the bar is now located, was originally a pharmacy and five and dime store, then it was turned into a grocery store, and currently the bar called Fat Bob's Kirkland Tap.

Claims of activity were;
The paper towel roll in the men's room would unroll completely to the cardboard spool, on a couple occasions, it would do it as soon as someone would re-roll the towels.

The staircase near the entrance you could hear footsteps going up and down them quite often.

People were getting the feeling of being watched.
The investigation;

Dan Norvell, Dave Norvell, and Rob Roquet set up the cameras in two locations at each end of the bar while I collected the owners information. During set up, Rob experienced fully charged equipment begin to rapidly drain their charge. On the EVP recorder was the first item, then his cell phone, then the camcorder. Rob managed to keep up with the draining equipment pretty well. Through the initial sweep of the place, we recognized the possibility of a "fear cage" going on in the bar.

As we commenced to gather evidence, Dan had suggested a pendulum session to start with. We got responses right away. We had asked how many spirits were ther, and narroed the answer to two spirits. Dan had called our sensitive, Sandra Wells, and she had informed us of the same number of spirits. She also told us she was getting the name "Joseph" (could this be the 'J' in D&J's gun shop?). Dan had taken this assumption to use the KII meter and ask questions pertaining to guns, since Dan is in law enforcement it was definately the right angle. We were getting responses with the KII when Dan would mention any guns.

We had included a static ball, but got no response on it. Due to the fact that this building was built in 1880's, i see why a spirit would be reluctant to have touched it. The ghost box had also given us words such as "guns" and "comfort". Sandy had also informed us that the spirit was fine with how Robert Arwood had established his business. So, that did validate those words from the ghost box.
Near the closing of the investigation, we had attempted another pendulum session at the front of the bar. This time, we had another spirit tell is through narrowing down answers that it was a spirit of a 10 year old boy. The responses were weaker than the first spirit we got to answer us.

The Bar's atmosphere was a warm and welcoming feeling, we didn't feel threatened in any way, yet you could feel something out of the normal here.

Dan had decided to have another Small Town Paranormal Family Team go into the bar at another time, so we have to keep our findings quiet for the time. I have written this story anticipating the outcome of the second group going and revealing their findings to compare.
As of this time....we feel there is an intelligent haunting here.
Dan, I am going to email this to you for date verification.

MESSAGE FROM BEN HALL:
Here is a link from a trip I did with my father in law a fews back. The picures on page 7 are the buildings at Tunnel Camp. I'm thinking this would be a good place for a hunt in the spring or early summer. It's about 30 miles from Lovelock NV, and can be reached by a 2wd vehicle in the dry seasons. I've also attached the link to the trip report. Enjoy!
