A Legend Writes the Foreword for my Book
Comments by Paul Dale Roberts, HPI General Manager

Written by Legendary Paranormal Author Brad Steiger

Soon, Shannon 'Ms. Macabre' McCabe and I, Paul Dale Roberts aka the Demon Warrior will have a book out called: HPI Chronicles: Ghosts, UFOs, Demons and High Strangeness. I asked legendary author Brad Steiger to write my foreword. He did. I am absolutely honored to have a foreword from the man who taught me everything about the paranormal. To me, Brad is a hero for getting the truth out and he is a role model for many in the paranormal field. Below is Brad's message to me, granting me to make changes. There are no changes I wish to make and after that is his spectacular foreword. Thank you Brad!

Message from Brad:
Paul: Here is my Foreword. You have my permission to correct or change any misstatements that I may inadvertently have made. You also have my permission to edit the work to your satisfaction.
Best always,
Brad

FOREWORD
When Paul Dale Roberts asked me to write the foreword to this book, I thought of the many articles that I had read of his various psychic reports of everything from haunted houses to UFOs, from demons to monsters. Paul is the manager of Shannon McCabe’s Haunted Paranormal Investigations (H.P.I.). Shannon has been interested in the strange, the unusual, and the unknown since she was a child, and she has over fifteen years experience as a full-time paranormal investigator.

As I began to think about writing the foreword, I started to visualize Paul as one of the old-time radio heroes that I listened to as a boy. Paul and I share a passion for adventure serials, the old pulp magazines, and the classic comic book superheroes, so I thought if Paul and Shannon were fictional characters, instead of real-life investigators, I might start off something like this:

“Together with his lovely friend and companion Shannon McCabe, the Demon Warrior battles the forces of fear, ignorance, and superstition to learn the truth behind tales of ghosts, monsters, and alien invaders. Who knows what mysteries lurk in the haunted houses, places, and minds of California? The Demon Warrior knows.” [My apologies to one of my idols Walter B. Gibson, his famous creation The Shadow, and his timeless characters, Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane.]

I once read an interview with Paul Dale Roberts in which he stated that while other boys were sneaking away to look at their fathers’ copies of Playboy and Penthouse magazines with their centerfolds of undraped ladies, he was reading Brad Steiger books with their explorations of mysteries that intrigued his youthful curiosity and encouraged him to one day explore such enigmas for himself.

It always fascinates and thrills me when a circle that began to form as a dream many years ago finds the completion of its circumference in the reality of today. Not only has Paul developed as a keen investigator and an accomplished journalist of the paranormal, but the two of us have become friends in recent years, and he has also made brilliant and provocative contributions to my books.

Paul honed his skills as an investigator while serving in the U.S. Army from 1973-1976, working with the Criminal Investigation Division Drug Suppression Team. He re-enlisted in 1979, and until 1986, he served with Military Intelligence as an Intelligence Analyst with the Photo Interpretation Center in Seoul, South Korea. This assignment evolved into Paul’s becoming an Opposing Forces instructor, teaching elite troops, such as the Navy Seals, the Army’s Special Forces, and the Airborne Rangers the intricacies of Soviet-made weapons. Today, Paul’s “real” job is as office manager for the Fish and Game License and Revenue Branch in Sacramento, California, but his true vocation is investigating the unknown.

And now, Paul and his friend and associate Shannon McCabe present us with a remarkable collection of articles detailing some of their most eerie and astonishing investigations. Don’t think the Haunted Phenomena Investigations group, founded by Shannon, limits itself to ghosts and haunted houses. In this excellent assortment of paranormal adventures, you will be able to visualize yourself side by side with the H.P.I. team as they encounter threatening demonic forces, Black-Eyed Boys, and Vampires. Join them as they go in search of gnomes, pixies, and reptilian shape shifters. Listen as they interview victims of UFO abduction, witnesses of phantom mischief, and individuals who claim to be from Other Worlds.

All these unforgettable accounts and many more are to be found in this book that I highly recommend.

Brad Steiger, Author of Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places and author-coauthor of 170 books on paranormal subjects.
