Question: There are so many things I want to ask you in this interview. I find you to be a very fascinating lady. First off, tell me how did you get into aura reading? How do you know how to define the colors of an aura? Also, you have empathic abilities. When did you learn that you were an empath?
Answer: My aura reading ability came out very randomly and I still do not understand it fully to be honest. I can sense and even see colors around individuals – and when I have mentioned what I see, people have related immediately that I was on the mark. I have also communicated with other aura readers and had my abilities confirmed multiple times by these experienced people within the gifted community. I enjoy giving people insight, hope, and understanding. The empathic abilities are even harder for me to understand but I’ve known about them since childhood. Through dreams, experiences with friends, precognition, and knowing about people’s feelings (physical & emotional) I have begun to understand that I see and sense things …I know things about others that I shouldn’t be able to. I do try to offer my abilities up with grace and love, freely giving of my time and talents in order to provide hope to others. Being able to feel someone’s pain is an odd experience, sometimes overwhelming to be honest. It really makes me humble and gives me a deeper understanding into my fellow human beings.
Question: Today, I want the readers to know a lot of things about you. You have some stories about Clarksburg, can you talk about it?
Answer: A good portion of my maternal family lived in Clarksburg for years. I remember so many wonderful family dinners, overnight stays with my Great Grandmother Geneva and Great Aunt Hazel Anderson. The wonderful down home country feel, the wide spans of land, the sunsets, the birds in the trees, such positive, relaxing times. Every Sunday we spent down on the Gorter ranch for dinner – oh the spread of food! It was always amazing, always nap inducing! I consider myself very lucky to have had time spent there. Every time I see the water tower, it takes me back to childhood – making mud pies, having snacks at the kitchen table or picking wild blackberries.
Question: You have 3 tattoos, can you tell me what your tattoos represent and where are they located? (see photos of two of her tattoos).
Answer: I have a hummingbird with flowers in honor of my grandmother (right hip/thigh), a paw print piece on my lower back (actual copies of my pets prints) – that represents my passion for animals, and a four leaf clover on my left hip for my Irish heritage. I have at least three other tattoos in mind … will keep you posted.
Question: Melissa, you are very involved with your church. What church do you go to and can you tell me how you are involved with your church?
Answer: I attend Cottage Way Christian Church. I love the family nature and loving feel of the congregation. I serve on the board, chair a committee, am involved in several committees, am very involved with the choir as well. The choir is truly my passion. Being able to make a joyful noise makes me very happy!
Question: You have very unique looks, can you tell the readers what your nationalities are and what prominent person or persons you are related to?
Answer: I am mostly Swedish & Irish. I also have Welsh, Scottish, Italian & Portuguese roots. My family originally came to America in the 1600’s. One of the first relatives to arrive in America was Thomas Lockett in Powhattan, Virginia. Special Note: It is known that the people of Sweden have Viking blood in them. My step-mother Cindy Anderson makes claim of having Viking blood. Most likely Melissa and my step-mother may be 12th cousins – twice removed (smile).
Question: You are involved in animal rescue, tell us more!
Answer: I am a firm believer in adoption/rescue above all else. Also supporting feral cat colonies with TNR (trap, neuter, release). There are far too many homeless pets in the world in my opinion. Saving as many as we can should be a priority.
Question: You are an avid fan of 50 Shades of Grey. Can you tell us why?
Answer: There is a dynamic psychological angle and a lot of personal self discovery within the characters. It offers all of us an insight into human behavior. It also sparks my interest I had in college I had for Psychology.
Question: How did you get involved with Zumba?
Answer: My wonderful long time friend Brooke dragged me along for a class, and I realized it was awesome! A great workout! I am not terribly coordinated but I know it’s really good for me
Question: Tell us about your hobbies. I know you are involved with gardening, writing and drawing. Can you elaborate on this? (See the link below for some of the creative writing that Melissa has done). See a sample of Melissa's creative writing here:
http://forums.jazmaonline.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5925Answer: My grandmother instilled a love for gardening in me since childhood. Being out in the yard getting my hands in the dirt is therapeutic. I love watching the beautiful plants grow & bloom. I have the same feeling when I draw or write. Watching a creation take shape really interests me. I like being able to express myself in a multitude of ways that people might enjoy somehow as well. I’ve done art & writing since High School.
Question: Tell us what TV shows and movies you like?
Answer: I am very into Ghost Adventures and most paranormal shows. They all very much intrigue me. Understanding more of what I experience all the time is helpful as well. It’s a learning experience. I am also into the dancing & singing competition programs. I LOVE GLEE. Yes I admitted it, I’m a GleeK. #61514; As for movies, my all time favorite is Pride & Prejudice, a true classic.
Question: What is your favorite song?
Answer: I have a real wide taste in music. I’d say Kelly Clarkson’s “Darkside” is my current favorite. Though there are many others.
Question: If readers wish to contact you, do you have an email that they can use?

Butterfly’s Path by Melissa Lockett
Her blue and silvery wings glint brightly in the warm sun rays, cascades of sapphires and diamonds shine from her as she twirls and twists through the canopy. Just a short time ago she emerged from her chrysalis and found her true purpose and beauty.
Her wings flutter so gently and softly amongst the brilliant flowers, oh so fragrant. She is sure to take a moment to smell each one. The glorious reds, pinks, purples, oranges, so vibrant, they dance in her eyes. Each petal a divine creation to her. The light dew sparkling on the leaves, the nectar tucked safely inside – seemingly just for her.
She’s been on this flight alone for some time – curious – why has nobody joined her? This path she is on is so gorgeous, her wings so brilliant, surely someone would want to take flight and share in the beauty?
She continues through the bright warm sun rays, darts in and out between leaves, petals, tall soft blades of grass. The day is so comforting, the sounds of other wings of various species create a grand symphony far too few stop to hear.
As the sun sets, she lights in a soft bunch of lilac blooms, to stay safe, comforted and to watch the radiant silver light of the moon shine upon this grand landscape. The moon rays change the colors – but their riveting, captivating beauty is still so undeniable. Her wings too take on a new hue, like pure platinum radiates from her. Still nobody like her, nobody with her view of this world flies up … maybe tomorrow… yes, tomorrow.
Forest Morning by Melissa Lockett
The fog twists in the tree tops, dancing around the damp pine needles in an early morning orchestrated dance. The soft moss has a brilliant green glow and unfurls its tiny tendrils upward in a triumphant stretch towards the morning light just beginning to gleam from above.
Light nips of cool air brush the leaves of the mighty oaks in a delicate, loving way, just as if to say… awake, arise, it’s time to feel the sun kiss you.
Rays of radiant golden sun begin to crack through the moist morning clouds; they reach into the smallest crevices of each fallen limb upon the forest floor. The hummingbirds begin to come alive and rapidly beat their wings and tiny hearts – the search for nectar is moments away. Each flower bud starts to loosen, reaching petals out to the waking morning light.
Do you hear the loudness within this silence? The dawning of a fresh new day, another start, another chance to shine.
