It's October 12, 2014, Sunday. This day is special for my wife Deanna Jaxine Stinson, it's her 28th birthday. Let me get out there and wash the Rusty Anomaly (my Kia) and while I am at it, I might as well wash Deanna's car too. Now that my car is shiny and clean, let me put on the HPI Ghostbusters door magnets. On this day, we are headed for Bodega Bay and we are having a picnic at the beach. The picnic consists of cheese, crackers, tea, Coke, chips, fig bars, dip, artichoke heart - avocado - Swiss cheese sandwich - ham and cheese sandwich, olives and tomato side dish, Greek salad, chocolate pies, macaroni salad.

TRICKY TOM OF POTTER SCHOOLHOUSE
Going through Petaluma, CA to get to Bodega Bay - we learn that Potter Schoolhouse was one of the film locations for the Alfred Hitchcock movie - The Birds. Potter Schoolhouse is supposed to be haunted with laughing school children. One resident says that a ghostly child that she calls Tricky Tom wears suspenders and has a maniacal smile on his face. Tricky Tom likes to stick his finger in your ear and his finger feels wet. GHOST IDENTIFIED: TRICKY TOM

BODEGA DUNES CAMPING SITE:
Deanna and I stopped over at Bodega Dunes Camping Site and paid $8.00 cash. We thought we would find a nice beach spot and discovered we were walking and walking and walking through the sand and NO BEACH. Deanna looked at me and I was filled with sweat. Deanna later is screaming because a snake crosses our path. I finally looked at her and said, let's get back to the car and drive further on Highway #1, until we reach a beach. We see deer grazing in the grass, we see a deer who became a fatality on the highway after being hit by a car.

THE 3 RUSSIANS
With Petaluma and Bodega Bay, there is plenty to explore. No wonder movies like The Birds 1963, Puppet Master 1989, The Pack 1977, The Fog 1980, The Goonies 1985, Sleepwalkers 1992 and I Know What You Did Last Summer 1997 were filmed here. The town of Bodega Bay is very picturesque. Port Rumyantsev was founded here in 1809 by Commerce Counselor Ivan Alexandrovich Kuskov. Michael Hunt a tourist says that in 1987, he saw 3 Russians talking to themselves, they were men and they looked very serious. One of the Russians looked at him and yelled "NYET!" When this happened the 3 Russians vanished in front of his very eyes. It startled him so much, that to this day he recalls the incident like it was yesterday. He feels the cold chills go right down his spine when he envisions the 3 Russians. GHOSTS IDENTIFIED: THE 3 RUSSIANS

TWO ROCK VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CEMETERY
Deanna and I made a stop at Two Rock Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A little history: Two Rock Valley Presbyterian Church is located west of Petaluma, at the intersection of this beautiful country road that connects the inland to the coast. The church was chartered in 1860 and has existed on this site ever since. The first burial in this historic cemetery is recorded in 1860 and in 1865 this congregation helped found Tomales Presbyterian Church. Three church buildings have stood here over the years, the first was dedicated in March 1863. After it burned in 1895, a new sanctuary was created in 1896. Following another fire, the present church was built in 1953, with the later additions of a Fireside Room and Sunday School Rooms.
Rumor has it that people have seen a vanishing crow that lands on a certain tombstone and when people approach the crow it vanishes. GHOST IDENTIFIED: VANISHING CROW.

THE BEACH: PHANTOM SURFER
After leaving the cemetery, we finally found a beach where it was easy walking distance. Steps that were built into a cliff and you must be careful walking down to the beach. The beach is swarming with flies and seagulls. The seagulls enjoyed our Doritos and the sand flies were enjoying everything else. Deanna posing on a rock was actually taken by a large wave and swept away for a few minutes. She survived the wave attack and managed to get herself back on the beach soaking wet. According to one witness, there is a phantom surfer that is seen tackling the waves during the time of dusk and will be swallowed by a wave and not seen again. Could this have been a surfer that once surfed these waters and later drowned? GHOST IDENTIFIED: PHANTOM SURFER

HARBOR VIEW GIFTS
Another stop we made was the Harbor View Gifts 707 875-3122 - A stop for unique gifts, jewelry and taffy. Mailing address: PO Box 1090 Bodega Bay, California 94923. This is where Deanna received her Bodega Bay mermaid t-shirt and sea shell bracelet. The lady that worked in this shop told me some ghost stories from a beach location on the East Coast and will share this story with me in a future article. She does tell me that the shambled building next to her shop was once an illegal drug factory. After a raid on this illegal drug factory, it was closed off to the public. Looking at this ruin, I would love to investigate this building, it seems foreboding and possibly haunted.

LADY GHOST IN GREEN: PHOENIX THEATER
Another place to check out is the Phoenix Theater, apparitions have been seen in the balcony. A woman ghost that wears a long flowing green dress, known by the witness as the lady ghost in green. There are reported strange sounds in the bathroom like someone is vomiting or coughing. GHOST IDENTIFIED: LADY GHOST IN GREEN.

SHADOW PERSON OF WOLF HOUSE:
Home of Jack London, author of The Call of the Wild. Some psychics see this house on fire and some visitors get a feeling of dread when entering this home. Shadow person was once seen clinging to the ceiling and startled the visitor so much, he ran out of the house screaming.

UFOS OVER BODEGA BAY:
There are many UFO sightings at Bodega Bay. Here is an example of one sighting recorded at THE BLACK VAULT: "My husband, my brother, my sister-in-law and I were vacationing at a coastal house in Bodega Bay, CA (about two hours north of San Francisco). We were watching the sun set over the ocean and preparing to watch the clear night sky, so we had big binoculars (16X70) set up on a tripod on the west-facing patio. Moments after sunset (which occurred at 7:15 p.m., [see photo “100_1605[1]sunset”], while the sky at the horizon was still orangey, we noticed a very bright orange/gold streak moving at a slightly upward angle in a north-to-south direction [see photos “100_1607[2]picture 3 unenhanced” and “picture 3 enhanced for brightness and contrast (3)”]. At arm’s length and measuring between thumb and forefinger, the streak early on was about an inch above the horizon. We then looked at it through the binoculars and we saw not only the streak, but a dark, somewhat elongated object that was rounded at the leading edge of what we then called a “trail”. Over the next minute or two, the trail got to be about four inches long (as measured above) and the object took up a good ¼ to ½ inch of that measurement. We continued to see the trail but not the object with the naked eye.

A minute or two after we first saw the trail, the object/trail appeared to stop and hover in place for another 10 minutes or so, but the trail did not dissipate at all like a vapor trail would. (Since we were facing west, it's also possible the object was not hovering but rather moving west to east or east to west after it appeared to stop.) We could see the trail and the "unmoving" object for a total of 10 minutes or so until it got too dark to see through the binoculars. The pictures we took do not even begin to show the brightness of the trail.

Based on the "distance to horizon" calculator on the Internet, we estimated the distance to the object was about 15.5 nautical or 17.9 statute miles. (We did a Google Earth calculation that showed our rental house was 172 feet above sea level and, adding the five-foot height of the tripod, resulted in a "height of eye" of 177 feet.) If the object was almost 18 miles away, the object would have to be quite large to appear as big as it did, even though it required binoculars to see it.

Our collective conclusion was that the object was too big to be any kind of airplane and that the trail was not a vapor trail. The way the object appeared to stop and hover, and the fact that the trail did not dissipate, were also very strange. Maybe it was some kind of missile, but we sure can’t figure it out. None of us had ever seen such a thing.

BELOW ARE HPI UPDATES, NEWS AND GOSSIP!

CYNTHIA VARGAS STORY:
It was a fall afternoon when I got the call from my wonderful neighbor. She needed to talk to me ASAP. I went right away as she mentioned my renters would be moving out if I didn't resolve the issue. I'm glad it was just a 3 minute walk because I was very nervous as to what the 'issue' was.

When I walked in her house (which was directly across from our rental), with her eyes widened she says, "Cynthia you need to take this candle, light it when you walk in and ask your brother to leave the renters alone. He is scaring them and they are so afraid that they will move out if it keeps on happening!"

I rushed right over to talk to my dead brother. As I entered the house it was slowly getting dark outside. I lit the candle and slowly walked throughout the house. I started talking to my brother as if he were alive and walking beside me. I wasn't scared until I entered the last room. The fire flickered and the top of the thick glass candle caved in right in front of my eyes! I got a sudden chill and felt a little scared. I convinced myself that it was a sign from my brother, letting me know he would abide.

The haunting stopped! No more bowls filled with cereal and milk, no more whispers outside the window (which used to be his room) and no more strange noises or shadows.
