Awww...it's Summer. When Summer comes along, it reminds me of the 5 years I lived in Monterey, CA and my frequent trips to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The days I visited Santa Cruz, there were many hippies around, we're talking about 1968 to 1972. I definitely could hear that song by the Doors..."People are Strange". Believe me, I encountered many strange people in Santa Cruz and it only makes sense that they filmed the movie "Lost Boys" in the fictional town of Santa Carla aka the real town of Santa Cruz. Now in the present day and if you head over to Santa Cruz, you will still encounter a few hippies here and there, some metaphysical type of people, self-proclaimed vampires, some UFO fanatics and some real witches. The last time I went to Santa Cruz was in 2015 and I brought my psychic medium wife Deanna Jaxine Stinson. The vibes at Santa Cruz are very mystical. While we were walking around the beach area, Deanna picked up on the energy of the indigenous people that once inhabited Santa Cruz. Deanna felt the spirits of the Costanoan Indians that lived on this land. When dusk fell, I was able to pick up on some chanting on my digital recorder. I do believe that the energy of the Costanoan Indians still impact the atmosphere of this town. Their chanting is still resonating in the surrounding environment. When Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo discovered Santa Cruz, he must have marveled at the beauty of this land. To this day, the beauty is still there.
Before, I talk about the Boardwalk, I must let you know that Santa Cruz which is part of the Monterey Bay is an area that is a hotbed for UFO activity. We have done UFO investigations in Monterey, Seaside and Santa Cruz. People from these areas have called us and made claim that they have seen UFOs fly into the ocean and have seen USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects) come out of the bay. The deepest part of the bay is 4900 feet deep. Some locals think there is a UFO base in the bay. At times locals have complained about a mysterious buzzing noise that seems to come from the bay. Besides the UFOs, you have ghosts and one of the most haunted places at Monterey Bay is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. When I lived in Monterey, I must have visited the Boardwalk a dozen times and yes, I rode the wooden roller coaster called the Giant Dipper. Three people died on the Giant Dipper. The Giant Dipper took 47 days to build. It cost $50,000 to put the Giant Dipper together. The Giant Dipper was open for the public on May 17, 1924. Just a few months after opening, a young boy lost his life on the wooden roller coaster. As he was riding the roller coaster, he decided to stand up as it reached the end. The emergency brake was applied and the boy fell headfirst onto the track and was crushed by the roller coaster. There would be 2 more deaths that would occur with the Giant Dipper, one that occurs in 1940 and another in 1970. Even with 3 deaths on the Giant Dipper, over 60 million people have ridden the wooden roller coaster, including myself. In fact, I believe I rode the Giant Dipper 3 times in my lifetime. The Giant Dipper is very haunted. Some people make claims that if they are riding the roller coaster by themselves, they will see a ghostly little boy sitting next to them. A visitor to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk named Velma Reynolds says she was riding the roller coaster by herself as her husband that had an upset stomach was waiting it out. As Velma reached the top, she noticed a little boy sitting next to her and he looked at her with concern on his face and said..."be careful". After he muttered these words, he simply disappeared. Velma says this scared her so much, she has no desire to ever return to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
A tourist named Marie Espinoza from Visalia, CA said she was walking along the beach during dusk with her then boyfriend and saw 7 people walking out of the water, and all 7 people as they reached the beach, stood still looking at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The 7 people then turned around and walked back into the ocean and completely disappeared underneath the waves. Marie and her boyfriend did not see anyone swimming, they just kept walking into the ocean until they were completely submerged. Marie believes that she saw the ghosts of drowning victims. There have been at least 72 drowning deaths near and around the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Besides the drowning deaths, there were also many victims of the Santa Cruz serial killers known as Herbert William Mullin, who killed 13 people and Edmund Emil Kemper III who killed 21 people. Both serial killers were on the prowl for victims in Santa Cruz during the same time. Roxanne Stewart a former resident of Santa Cruz says that she once saw a ghost of a man that had blood dripping down his face in the Santa Cruz mountains and she believes he was a victim of serial killer Mullin. Roxanne says she knew it was a ghost, because he was translucent.
Now, before I go, you are probably wondering if there are any vampires that live or hang out in Santa Cruz. The answer is yes. Ever since the movie "Lost Boys", there has been an attraction to Santa Cruz by self-proclaimed vampires. While in Santa Cruz with Deanna, I saw a guy dressed all in black, with a small black cape attached to his back and I told Deanna..."I have to talk to this guy." I introduced myself as a paranormal investigator and the guy in black introduced himself as Count Lucus. Count Lucus is originally from San Bernardino, CA and is now staying with friends in Santa Cruz. Count Lucas has watched Lost Boys over 20 times and knew in his heart he had to move to Santa Cruz. Count Lucas says that Santa Cruz will one day become the Vampire Capitol of the World. Count Lucus explained to me that he has 3 close friends that allow him to drink a tablespoon of their blood. Count Lucus says that he requires blood to give him strength and stamina. If he does not receive blood, he feels weak. Count Lucus says that he started craving blood at the age of 17, he is now 23 years old as of the year 2015. So, there you have it. Santa Cruz and the Boardwalk is a smorgasbord of paranormal activity. If you ever had a paranormal encounter in Santa Cruz, then please email me with your report:
