Pictures: Haunted California Youth Authority & Michele Stump at Haunted House
The Specter of Monster Turk
By Paul Dale Roberts, HPI Ghostwriter/Ghosthunter
I received an email the other day from a source unknown. The email reads in part: "Hi, you don't know me, but I feel I know you. I read enough of your articles. You should scout out the abandoned California Youth Authority along Ramona Avenue. Some people have seen a full body apparition of a kid, that wears a white t-shirt and bluejeans. Some people in my neighborhood think it's a kid nicknamed Monster Turk, because the apparition fits the description. Monster Turk was an extortionist while at the California Youth Authority Reception Center and the other juvenile delinquents didn't like him. The other kids were planning to shank him. They found him the next day hung by his neck in his room. He got his nickname, because he was a monster and he may have been of Turkish descent." After reading this, I knew it was time for a preliminary scouting investigation. The date is April 18, 2008, Friday. Code 8910. Now, some of you will wonder what the code means. I really wish I could tell you, but it's very essential to this scouting investigation and I can't disclose the code reference, I have the code mentioned for historical purposes only.
I briefed Michele Stump, HPI paranormal investigator about the email I received and Michele told me that she knew exactly where the abandoned California Youth Authority is, because she has seen it many times while riding the lightrail. Michele being one of our HPI researcher/historians, (we actually have two researcher/historians, the other is Kristen Sheley) discovered that this facility was the reception center for young offenders. This receptionist center was sort of a way station, where offenders received psychiatric evaluation and waited to be placed in permanent correctional facilities. In 2004 this reception center was closed down. Michele goes on to tell me that youth offenders with psychiatric problems stayed at this facility the longest. Many of these youth offenders with psychiatric problems were suicidal or had the tendency to commit violence on other offenders. According to my anonymous email, Monster Turk was extremely violent.
Michele and I used digital cameras and digital audio recorders for our investigation. We separated during our investigation and at some point of time, Michele is relaying that she saw what she thought was a person. When she investigated to see if this person was in the location where she saw him walking, there was no one there, as if he vanished. Michele states that it didn't appear to be a full body apparition, but of a living person. She described the person as a man, Hispanic nationality carrying a cloth bag. The person moved from one area into another area. She investigated the area in question and there was no one there. She has no explanation for this mysterious person, but took a picture at the location where he was last seen. The picture showed an orb. EVPs are still pending. Michele will be going over her recordings and I will be going over my recordings.
The California Youth Authority covers a lot of land and at some point, I kept cellular phone contact with Michele as I sat in my car as she continued to investigate. I was trying to get through my book 'Space Vulture by Gary K. Wolf & Archbishop John J. Myers', when finally my cell rang and it was Michele, she was packing it up finally. She still can't figure out how a full grown man could have disappeared so fast and he was only a mere 30 feet from her.
Our next stop was the house at the end of Trujillo Way. This house according to the neighborhood urban legend is reputed to be haunted. It's legend almost equals to the house on 22nd & H Street. It's a huge two story wooden house that is surrounded by a forest of trees and wild shrubbery. We could only do an outside perimeter investigation for EVPs and photographic evidence. The house may have a reputation of being haunted, because it looks haunted. It reminded me of the Addam's Family mansion. What I would do to get inside this old house. EVPs from this house are still pending and there is no photographic evidence of this house being haunted.
But, this is something that HPI does, if we get information and if someone is requesting a scouting investigation, they usually contact me, the head scoutmaster paranormal investigator. I love to do reconnaissance missions, it reminds me of my days in the Army. If you feel you have something worthwhile, I will scout it out and see what all the fuss is about. This scouting mission was inconclusive, but it was sure fun to explore!
One of the places that we will be revisiting is Mt. Shasta. I took a scouting party to Mt. Shasta to look for UFOs and Bigfoot that are reputed to frequent this mountain. There is a story that I didn't tell my scouts. Sure, I told them about the Last of the Lemurians, but did you know that astronomer Edgar Eugene Larkin was once testing his telescope at Mt. Shasta and spied upon three gold domed marble temples on one of the slopes? What he was looking at was an interdimensional city that belongs to the Lemurians. The temples he saw, were the secret city of the Lemurians. The townsfolk describe Lemurians as tall, long-haired, white robed people. The wore headbands to cover the pineal third eyes protruding from their foreheads. The Lemurians were known to trade gold dust with the locals. When people tried to photograph the beings, they would disappear into the shadows or dissipate into nothingness. According to Rosicrucian author Harve Spencer Lewis, the Lemurians would hold ceremonies, chanting as they would encircle a fire. The Lemurians also fly in UFO-like boats around Mt. Shasta. The last time we went to Mt. Shasta, some of the investigators saw UFOs in the night sky and one of our investigators took a picture of a UFO during broad daylight. Yes, I would love to go back to Mt. Shasta! Mt. Shasta is as mysterious as Stonehenge or Sedonia. Some people think that Mt. Shasta is a center point for ley lines and that is one of the reasons why it's so enchanted, it's a portal into other dimensions.
