1. HPI began in 2004. What made you set it up?
Shannon- Back in 2004 I was searching the internet for other paranormal enthusiasts in my area and I happened upon H.P.I. (Haunted & Paranormal Investigations) International. It was run by a gentleman named Mike. Mike decided to go and become a tattoo artist and so I took over the group. When I took over H.P.I. we had about 35 members, today we have 550! I turned H.P.I. into a business and now we've been going strong for 5 years. I absolutely love working with my general manager/ ghost writer, Paul Dale Roberts. He has written over 100 articles for H.P.I. which is how you found us!

2. Can you describe the work you do?

Shannon- We have a few different levels to H.P.I. First, we conduct investigations of businesses and residences that call us for help or just to validate their haunting. Paul and I also do home cleansings. If a client is not happy with their entity, we will go in and exorcise the it. We've been very successful with this side of H.P.I. We also do not charge our clients for investigations and cleansings. We like to think of it as our tithe to the community. And lastly, we have our Scouting Missions where we take our members on excursions and teach them how to investigate all things paranormal. Our next Scouting Mission is on June 27th, 2009 where we'll be taking our members, and the dogs, to hunt for UFO's!


3. When and how did you realize that Rocket, Pika and HPI have psychic
abilities (Shannon mentioned that the work is new for them and for
you)?

Answer:
Shannon- Paul and I had this crazy idea to take Pika with us one night. The investigation was very successful and so we decided to involve the other dogs, it was a great discovery for us!

Paul- Pika has been on about 12 investigations,HPI has
been on 4 investigations, and Rocket has been on 2 investigations.
Shannon and I believe all animals have psychic abilities.
Consider the fact that dogs are able to smell an area and get a visual
of the past events of that area. This is natural for a dog, but if a
human does it, it’s called ‘Clairalience’, the ability to smell things that have no physical source. If a human does it, we consider it ‘paranormal’, but if an animal does it, it’s normal.
Dogs are very psychic, they have heightened awareness.

Pika, Rocket and HPI have stopped in their tracks and barked at nothingness. They will
also follow this nothingness from one area to another. We believe all 3 dogs
are seeing something and when we point our temperature gauges at the
area, we will at times get an indication of a cold spot.

4. Is there a particular dog who is more psychic than the others? Why
do you
think this is?

Answer: Paul- Hmmm…I would think Pika is the most sensitive. He seems to
pick up on things quicker. What do you think Shannon?
Shannon- I agree with Paul, Pika seems to pick up on the most activity but he's also more seasoned than Rocket and HPI.


5. Can you describe Rocket, Pika and HPI's personalities?

Answer: Paul- HPI (pronounced Hi-Pee) is a character, he is goofy. He will run quickly and fall down at times. He loves to lay on top of me, he will literally throw
his body over my body and fall asleep. He is always happy.

Paul- Pika is always alert. He is a guard dog in every sense. He is full of
love and affection and if he had his chance, he will lick you to death.

Shannon -Rocket is not really a dog, she's my baby. She's the most loving and sweet Poodle I've ever met. She absolutely loves to have guests over to the house and we'll tell her "Grandma's coming over" and she'll sit on the couch looking out the window until Grandma Wendy arrives, sometimes this can be hours! She's hilarious, when my husband Bruce and I bought her, she arrived at 8 weeks old already knowing how to ride a mini skateboard. We couldn't have asked for a better dog, err... child.

6. Do you know if you are the only paranormal investigative group to
use
dogs?

Answer: We do not know of any other paranormal groups that utilize
animals around here. We like to think we are the Doggie Paranormal Pioneers!

7. Mentioned on the website is the fact that you go on large scale
investigations of documented sites (could you give me a few examples?)
as well as smaller, private investigations of homes and businesses.

Answer: Paul & Shannon- Yes, we do large scale investigations of areas like Mount
Shasta, CA that is known for sightings of Bigfoot and UFOs. We've done the Winchester Mystery House, The Ione Hotel and plenty of haunted restaurants & bars, or pubs as you call them on the other side of the pond.
We have what's called "Scouting Missions" where we take our members to documented haunted sites. We teach them the fundamentals of paranormal investigation and let them run wild! The smaller investigations are usually businesses or residences. The business and residential investigations are private and done with a small core group. Some of our clients have agreed to let us publish their evidence and it can be found our our website www.HPIparanormal.net
We've also done investigations of murder sites of known serial killers, and were asked to do a show out of London called "Conversations With A Serial Killer" on the Living Network.

Have you taken Rocket, Pika and HPI on both your large and smaller
scale investigations? If so, which have they been the most successful on?

Answer: Paul- HPI, Rocket and Pika went on a long trek from Sacramento to
Reno, Nevada and investigated a haunted residence. They were very
successful in locating a moving entity that went from one room to
another room. Well, Rocket and Pika were successful, HPI was busy
playing with a ball…sigh. Later we took the dogs to the Donner Party
location, nothing was detected at this site.

Shannon- As far as taking them on the large scale investigations with our members we usually leave them at home because we have so many people with us, it can be hard to keep the dogs focused. They'd rather be pet and loved than looking for ghosts!


8. How long do your investigations with your dogs normally last?

Answer: Paul- As long as it takes..if we get a lot of evidence..the
investigation may last into the night.
Shannon- And normally you'll find me curled up with the dogs sleeping on a couch somewhere while Paul investigates. We always get caught!

9. Paul, you mention that you believe animals, especially dogs, have
psychic abilities. Have you ever used any animals other than dogs?

Answer: Paul- I once used my neighbor’s cat and the cat seemed to be aware of a presence. When I took a picture, I got 3 large Designer Orbs in my
photographs.
Designer Orbs: intricate designs within the inside of the orb usually found on photographs or video. Coined by Paul Dale Roberts.

10. In the picture section on your website there is mention of a Ghost
Dog Investigation. Can you describe this to me?

Answer: Shannon- The pictures you are speaking about are from "Bogey the Ghost Dog". Paul did a story about a home in California where the occupants were seeing their deceased dog, Bogey. 11. On your website there is also reference to Jennifer Baca's Beagle
and dog apparition photos. Do you believe that Rocket, Pika and HPI sense
the ghosts of humans or dogs, or both?

Answer: Paul- All living things have an aura. The dogs are able to detect
auras of engaging living things. So if an aura of a dog is engaging
them, they will be aware of that paranormal engagement.

12. On Saturday the 27th of June you have an HPI UFO Camping event
scheduled. Will your dogs be involved with this?

Answer: Paul- Oh yeah!!! We are camping out near the Lawrence Livermore
Labs to hunt for UFO's. The dogs will be there!!

13. Have any other dogs been involved in your investigations?

Answer: Paul- One of our investigators brings his dog occasionally, but from my
observations, he just brings his dog for company.
