Sacramento Horror Film Festival
By Paul Dale Roberts aka the Demon Warrior

October 22, 2009, Thursday: This is the first night of the Sacramento Horror Film Festival sachorrorfilmfest.com and I met many groovy ghoulies at this festival. In fact the festival is running from October 22 to October 25. You can attend this event by going to the Historic Colonial Theatre on Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. You can meet gorgeous ghoulies like Carol Poizon who sells Halloween hems, Halloween hair bows, ghoulie stuff and other out-of-ordinary items. Her store is called Split Poizon www.myspace.com/splitpoizon and she can be contacted at splitpoizon@yahoo.com Check out her goods at this festival or online, you won't be disappointed! What was a kicker, is that she was selling the Halloween hair bows from out of a coffin.

I attended this event with Johnny Worlock (Hearse Driver), Shannon 'Ms. Macabre' McCabe and Francine Ures aka Frankie. All three on this night were vampires. Mr. Lobo a horror movie host got this event started with bands like the Secretians that belted out some punk rock songs. The Secretians have a new CD called 'Greasy Hot Meaty Cheesy'. You can imagine what the songs are like, especially when they have names like 'Bipolar Billy'. After The Secretians played, another band took over called the Common Men and their songs were sort of Gothic 80s style.

There were promos for Double Feature Shock Show: Dust till Dawn and The Howling (Trash Film Orgy); M.K.D. Wear 'Comfort for the Dark Realm' myspace.com/mkdwear ; Lobotronics (a bunch of 50s TV shows - commercials and cartoons thrown together to make a nauseating film that you can't stop watching); Repo! The Genetic Opera; Brains (the ultimate horror comedy comic book www.myspace.com/brainscomic - email: zombiefrombeyond@hotmail.com ); Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas; Fright Night; Next Floor - A Denis Villeneuve Film; Thankskilling (this is the ultimate low-budget experience - a homicidal turkey killing off teenagers!) and finally The Cabin in the Woods.

Some of the movies that they will be showing are:
Altar - a janitor re-examines his life when a toilet he is cleaning becomes possessed.
One Dark Night - Hilarious dark comedy about an undead man that pursues the love of his life with the help of his misfit friends.
Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet: Splatter fest filled with sex, guts, blood and lopped off heads!
Albino Farm: Backwoods Ozark mountain folk (in-bred misfits) who prey on stray travelers.
Auburn Hills Breakdown: Junior is a chainsaw wielding maniac. Horror galore! Something that Leatherface would love!

There are a zillion other movies that they will be showing, too many to mention here. There are also audience participation games and lots of prizes! Francine played one game with Mr. Lobo and won the CD: William Winckler's Frankenstein vs. The Creature from Blood Cove. The Creature from Blood Cove is the monster cousin of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Yeah, it's a B film, but who cares?

So if this weekend, you have nothing to do besides mowing your lawn and washing your car, this is the place to be if you love horror films! Mr. Lobo is very engaging as he goes out into the movie theatre and talks with his guests. There was one guest that came as far away as Baltimore, Maryland. You will have a horrific fun night!
