You have many individuals that have taken up the vigilant tasks of patrolling the streets of their cities. If these self-made superheroes see a crime being committed, they make sure that the police are notified. Many of these superheroes have either prevented fights, rapes, assaults and robberies according to their local media. To walk the city streets and knowing you have people watching your back is a good feeling.

You may make fun of their costumes, but what they are doing is for a good cause. They have become the ultimate neighborhood watch. I could not believe it, when I turned on the news this morning and heard how they discovered 43-year old Sacramento resident Sharion Renay King in a pile of burning leaves. Her lifeless burned body was found at Discovery Park.

Her estranged boyfriend Robert Thompson has been implicated in her murder and has been promptly arrested. Robert Thompson is also a sex offender. I have noticed that some of our self-proclaimed superheroes in various cities keep an eye out on registered sex offenders. If a criminal knows he is being watched on a constant basis, it will hinder him or her from committing a criminal act.

So, when I hear about these superheroes, I don't laugh and make fun of them. I give them a cordial bow for their deeds and actions. They all deserve a salute for their valiant efforts in turning the tide of crime.

Perhaps if someone had kept an eye out on the Speed Freak Killers - Wesley Shermantine and Loren Herzog, perhaps...just perhaps they would not have had 30 victims. These modern day superheroes are doing the same thing as what the Guardian Angels did. Keeping an eye on the city and making sure that the citizens of the city feel comfortable in their environment. I applaud these superheroes!
