HISTORY DISCOVERED ON THE INTERNET
"The Rio de las Calaveras (“River of Skulls”) was named by members of the 1806 Moraga expedition who are said to have seen skulls of Native Americans along its banks. After the discovery of gold on the American River in January of 1848, strikes were made in Calaveras County along the banks of Carson’s and Angels Creeks, and the Mokelumne, Calaveras, and Stanislaus rivers. Mining accounts for the locations and names of most of the county’s towns and communities, the larger settlements located where major strikes occurred, or where supply camps provided necessities for the surrounding encampments.

The mining industry led to the formation of Calaveras County in 1850, it was the main pillar of the local economy for nearly 75 years thereafter. Settlers soon turned to agriculture as a more sustaining endeavor, and the cattle and lumber provided additional employment for the county’s population."  Special Note:  The location of the River of Skulls is 4573-3975 Hogan Dam Road, Valley Springs, CA

REVIEW FOUND ON THE INTERNET:
"Great hiking trail, very scenic.  When you first start the hike, you cross over a little bridge and I could have sworn I saw a 3 inch bi-pedal creature underneath the bridge.  I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me or if I really saw this dark humanoid type of creature crawling on the underside. I told my friend and he didn't see it.  Author unknown."

3/10/2019:  Of course if this review is not a joke, the author may have seen some kind of troll.  Deanna and I, tried to find this troll and Deanna named it "Growly the Troll", because we captured an EVP by the bridge that sounded like a growl.  On this trail we captured many EVPs, see the videos on top of this page.  At the bridge we captured what sounded like Native American Indians chanting and later my wife Deanna Jaxine Stinson captured another EVP near the bridge of Native American Indians chanting.  When Deanna first told me about this hiking trail, I knew it was haunted, because early settlers found many Native American Indian skulls along the embankments.  Deanna picked up visions of Native American Indians and saw a war chief who referred her as "White Horse".  Deanna interprets White Horse as meaning she is Caucasian and horse, meaning she is psychic.  The vision she saw of the war chief was a Native American Indian man, with a white fur band, coyote skin loin cloth, walking with  large staff, dark hair, dark skin.  Wherever Deanna's psychic antenna (spider-sense) started twitching, we were able to capture EVPs.  Special Note: We never did find Growly the Troll.

When we left the River of Skulls, we stopped to investigate the abandoned Rossetti's and captured a clear sounding EVP, but it was intelligible.  I am not sure what it was saying.  Deanna could feel the entities inside this establishment.  Special Note:  After this ghost hunt was over, we stopped at Good Friend Chinese Restaurant - 9 California Street, Valley Springs, CA 95252.  Let me tell you, this buffet was absolutely DELICIOUS.  I couldn't get enough fried shrimp and the dessert was something to holler about.  If you ever go traveling out to this area, make sure you stop at this buffet, you will not regret it!  I give them 2 thumbs up!

Roll Call:
Deanna Jaxine Stinson - Psychic Medium / HPI Co-Owner; Paul Dale Roberts - HPI Co-Owner; Story - Canine Paranormal Investigator; Princess Hannah - Canine Paranormal Investigator.  This was Story's first paranormal adventure and ghost hunt.

CONCLUSION:
There are many haunted trails and I must say this is one of the most haunted.
