True love is defined as something immortal and holy. It is something that mirrors the power of the Gods themselves. Blood is linked to life everlasting, because it flows through our veins into our children forever and so forth. Blood can carry spiritual memories of love as well, which can be decoded through dream work and symbolic interpretations.

In mythology, several goddesses are associated with roses; most beauty & love goddesses of course, but also well known spiritual movements became centered around these people, so the symbol itself is very powerful in all forms....
Aphrodite is an example of a goddess who is represented by the red rose. She has a nurturing & also sexual spirit. Other symbols of love are of the air- so the rose is really a connection through time and a bridge to the women of the past. There are male gods who represent love, but they are rarely depicted with flowers- rather yet with women, whom can be known to be a symbol of a flower through their sexual organs as nature mimics the wild by pollination & fertility.
Roses naturally ward away evil because they are for love, overall and demons are cast out by the strength of it's beauty.
